Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team followed a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed corner leading to the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th place, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
